Oaxacan Filigree Sterling Silver Earrings with Turquoise — Traditional Handmade Mexico
Oaxacan Filigree Sterling Silver Earrings with Turquoise — Traditional Handmade Mexico

Filigrana oaxaqueña has lived in Oaxaca for nearly five centuries, taught from silversmith to silversmith, never written down.
Handcrafted in Oaxaca using time-honored filigree techniques, these sterling silver earrings showcase intricate metalwork paired with vibrant turquoise accents. Each piece reflects the artisan's mastery of delicate wirework — hair-thin silver coiled and soldered into lace-like structures that hold a single piece of turquoise at their center. The cool turquoise stones provide a striking contrast against the lustrous silver, making these earrings a versatile statement piece for both everyday wear and special occasions. These are not merely beautiful; they are a continuation of a five-century craft lineage.
About Oaxacan filigree
Filigrana oaxaqueña arrived via Spanish silversmiths in the 1500s and was so thoroughly absorbed into local Oaxacan tradition that it became one of the city's defining art forms. Today, only a handful of family workshops in Oaxaca's historic jewelry quarter still practice it at this level — building each piece wire by wire, soldering by hand, never from a cast mold.

Care
Polish with a soft silver cloth. Store in an airtight pouch or anti-tarnish bag. Avoid perfume, lotion, chlorine, and water. Never use abrasive cleaners on turquoise.
