Up in the mountains of Guerrero, every other doorway opens onto a silver workshop — and this is what comes out of them.

Taxco de Alarcón is not just Mexico's silver capital. For more than 250 years it has been one of the world's great silversmithing centers, and the families working there today still hand-finish every piece. These half-circle earrings are a clean, sculptural expression of that tradition — sterling silver shaped into a bold arc, set with turquoise that offsets the bright metal with cool color. Two inches long, 1.5 inches wide. Wearable art that does not announce itself.

About Taxco silver

The plateros of Taxco work in a lineage that runs directly from 18th-century Spanish colonial metalworking through generations of Indigenous refinement. The result is a silversmithing tradition with its own aesthetic language — sculptural, confident, technically precise. There is no Taxco silver assembly line. There is only the hand of the silversmith, the .925 stamp, and the piece itself.

Styling

The half-circle silhouette is clean and modern enough for a boardroom and bold enough for a dinner table. With a crisp white shirt, the turquoise reads fresh. With a navy or black dress, it reads architectural. These earrings work hardest when the rest of the outfit steps back and lets them lead.

Care

Polish with a soft silver cloth. Store in an airtight pouch or anti-tarnish bag. Avoid perfume, lotion, chlorine, and water. Never expose turquoise to harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
