The silversmith who made these earrings did not set a pearl in a plain bezel. He built a cage of twisted silver wire around it — the way only Oaxacan filigree knows how.

Filigrana oaxaqueña is one of the most demanding silversmithing techniques in existence: hair-thin silver wires hand-twisted and soldered into intricate, lace-like structures that frame each stone like architecture. These earrings pair that meticulous craft with lustrous cultured pearls, creating a combination that is at once delicate and deeply present. The result is not a simple pearl earring. It is a demonstration of what centuries of craft knowledge look like when applied to a single pair.

About Oaxacan filigree

Filigrana oaxaqueña arrived in Oaxaca via Spanish silversmiths in the 1500s and was absorbed into the city's craft identity so completely that it became one of its defining art forms. Today, only a handful of family workshops in Oaxaca's historic jewelry quarter still practice it at this level — building each piece one wire at a time, by hand, without molds or shortcuts.

Styling

Pearl and filigree is the combination that works for everything: a white linen summer dress, a dark evening jacket, a casual outfit elevated by a single considered piece. These earrings are light enough for all-day wear and intricate enough to reward a second look.

Care

Polish with a soft silver cloth. Store in an airtight pouch or anti-tarnish bag. Pearls are sensitive to chemicals — keep away from perfume, hairspray, and cleaning products.
